Preliminary Task

This video is our final film for bot Robert and myself's preliminary task . Overall in my opinion we have done very well to complete this task on time. A lot of hard work and time was given up to create this short video with using more advances packages and softwares including Adobe premiere pro.

As we were planning the rough storyboard for our preliminary task , we had a good idea of what we wanted to do which was about two working friends that were discussing one of them being in a  rapidly occurring debt situation, but quickly ending up agreeing on going to nandos !
From our original storyboard to our final finished film, there were obvious differences which were on purpose to make our project better.

The equipment we used for our preliminary task :
  • Canon 650D DSLR
  • RODE VideoMic Pro
  • Tripod
Although it took us several attempts to get the correct/relevant shot/camera angle , we managed to acheive whatwe planned and we also included the 180 degree rule and the reverse shot.
After me and Robert finished filming , we took in turns to edit our recordings on Adobe Premiere Pro on the Apple Macs during school time in the media room/suite. With me persoally i found it hard to get used to the premiere pro editing software as i have never used in my life before so i had no experience with it.

Overall the editing was good in our film but there were some neagtive points as we only had one camera to shoot all of our footage on so it took a long time to capture everything we needed. Also as it was just only Robert and myself filming so both of us had to take it in turns filming each other as well as trying to film each other in the same shot at the same time.
The most enjoyable parts of making our preliminary task was the filming itself for both of us as we thoroughly enjoyed using all the equipment and experimenting with advanced shots and effects etc. One of the main effects we used in Adobe Premiere Pro to enhance our film was the brightness as in the original footage it was quite dark and hard to see the characters expressions on the screen. So we tried to increase the brightness on every single clip without making any of them stand out so they all had the same level of brightness. Robert and I both found out by experience that the rendering took for absolute ages to complete because our videos were in very high quality and there were lots of them.
Finally in my opinion , the whole preliminary task was very good fun and a great first attempt which has made Robert and I very excited for our next media filming task where we will improve the story-line , effects , audio , and the footage.
